Rehearsals

Rehearsals are a vital part of the production process. Practice makes perfect, and rehearsals are how we practice. We can only produce a quality show with quality rehearsals. That said, it is easy to understand why rehearsal expectations are incredibly high. After each show's casting, a “Rehearsal Contract” will be reviewed with students and sent home for parents to sign and return.

Rehearsal Attendance Policy

Rehearsal attendance is mandatory; good attendance is essential for the group's success. Absences should be limited to reasons of illness or emergency. Students will have 4 unexcused absences. Attendance during Tech Week and Performances are required. Participation during Strike (Organizing props and costumes, clearing set pieces after the last performance) is required unless otherwise arranged or communicated with the Theatre Director. Please meet these requirements to ensure future opportunities are met.

If you are involved in another extracurricular activity, notify the director of all possible conflicts. Communicate with both the theatre director and extracurricular activities teacher about scheduling. The athletics department and I are really good at working out practice and rehearsal schedules.

Please remember that no matter the role in a production, every student is a valuable part of the process and will only be noticed if they are present. Please let the director know of absences as soon as possible.

Excused Absences

  • Sports

  • Other Clubs

  • Tutorials

  • Detention

  • School related events

  • Absent from the school day

Rehearsal Attire

School-appropriate attire is still required. Be sure to bring additional clothing for proper movement if needed. Please see that closed-toe shoes are worn to every rehearsal for safety reasons.

Cell Phones And Electronic Devices Policy

Cell Phones are NOT permitted on the stage and are prohibited during all performance dates. Students may use their phones during breaks. We can not be responsible for any lost or stolen items at rehearsal. Phones will be taken up during the start of performances and returned as a form of “check-out” when students are done cleaning and dismissed.

Parent Pick-Up

Each student is responsible for having a ride to pick them up immediately after rehearsal ends. No student is allowed to stay on the school grounds after rehearsal finishes. If there are (3) consistent late pick-ups of 10 minutes or more, the student may risk losing their role and/or responsibilities in the production. Please reach out if there are any conflicts.

Tool Consent

The equipment mentioned is an example, but not limited to, the type of equipment students will learn to use. Models and brands may vary. The theater director will supervise the use of tools. Students will receive a lesson on tool safety and proper use before being allowed to use them. Students in the Theatre Arts Programs are expected to follow all safety procedures. Safety is my number one priority so if I feel they are misusing the tool in any way that may cause harm or damage to themselves, other students, and/or school property they will be written up, reported to their AP, and be removed from the production. Please check the tools you DO NOT want your child to use.
